High School Internships at Simply Southern Chiropractic Center

Key Points

  • Students gain hands-on healthcare experience working directly with patients while earning high school credit through our six-week training program.
  • The program is open to Greenville County Schools and Spartanburg District 5 students who want to explore chiropractic care and develop valuable professional skills.
  • Nine out of ten students stay with us after completing their required hours because they discover a passion for helping people and want to continue in healthcare careers.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work in healthcare, our internship program gives you the chance to find out. We’ve had the pleasure of working with local students for the past four years through Greenville County Schools and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce LaunchGVL Work-Based Learning program.

Now we’re opening our doors to Spartanburg District 5 students through RD Anderson ATC as well. More students in our area can experience what it’s like to be part of a healthcare team that genuinely cares about each patient who walks through our doors.

What Makes Our Chiropractic Internship Program Special?

This program goes way beyond just getting your required hours. You’ll actually work alongside our team as a real chiropractic assistant, helping patients and learning what it takes to make people feel better every day. It’s perfect if you’re considering chiropractic school, other healthcare internship opportunities, or just want to build strong work skills that’ll help you in any field.

Real Healthcare Experience

From your first day, you’re part of our clinical team. You’ll work directly with patients, help with treatments, and see how a successful healthcare practice really operates. This hands-on experience isn’t busy work or just watching from the sidelines. You’ll be earning both high school credit and a good wage while contributing to our patients’ care.

Dr. Duncan’s โ€œBoot Campโ€ Training Program

Every intern starts with our complete six-week training program. We call it “Dr. Duncan’s Boot Camp,” and here’s how it works:

Training Schedule (Weeks 1-6):

  • Mondays: 4-5 hours of training and education
  • Tuesday Evening, Thursday Evening, and Saturday: Working with real patients, using what you learned

This means you’re learning something new every Monday, then immediately putting it to use with actual patients throughout the rest of the week. You’ll learn important chiropractic assistant skills like:

  • Greeting patients and helping them through their visit
  • Using therapeutic equipment (thumper massage tools, laser therapy)
  • Assisting with STEM therapy
  • Adjustment table setup and protocols
  • Learning basic anatomy and where different muscle groups are
  • Teaching patients through our “Simply Staying Young” education program

Chiropractic Assistant Skills You’ll Build

Clinical Skills

As a chiropractic assistant, you’ll get hands-on experience with chiropractic medical equipment, learn patient care basics, and understand how different treatments help people reach their wellness goals. You’ll learn to use our therapeutic equipment and see how these treatments make a real difference in people’s everyday lives.

You might also work with patients who come to us for issues like neuropathy or other conditions that require specialized care.

Life Skills & Professional Development

Beyond the clinical training, this program teaches you life skills that’ll help you no matter what career path you choose:

  1. Being reliable: In healthcare, patients count on you. You’ll learn what it means to show up on time and be prepared every day.
  2. Communication: You’ll learn how to talk with patients, work with colleagues, and be part of a healthcare team.
  3. Work ethic: Understanding what it takes to do your job well, even when things get busy or challenging.
  4. Public speaking: Through our patient education program, you’ll build confidence presenting information to others.
  5. Customer service: Learning to handle interactions with patients in a professional and caring manner.
  6. Tech skills: Getting comfortable with the software and technology we use in modern healthcare.

You’ll also learn about spine health and other wellness topics that help you understand how the body works and heals.

Skills for Any Career Path

The professional habits and communication skills you develop here can help you in any career, and theyโ€™re the kinds of skills that employers value, no matter what field you end up in.

What if I’m not sure about a healthcare career?

That’s perfectly fine! Our program is designed to help you explore healthcare while developing valuable professional skills that transfer to any career. We want you to figure out whether a healthcare career is right for you before you spend hundreds of thousands on a degree!

Can I continue working after completing the internshipโ€™s required 40 hours?

Absolutely! Most of our interns choose to continue working with us part-time. We love when students want to stay and grow with our team.
